How to Use Microsoft Outlook to Start a Mailing List
You may have recently launched an online business, or gotten in touch with a long-lost friend or perhaps come across a great recipe for chocolate brownies. Whatever the message you want to convey, if you want to spread it to as many people as you know, using a mailing list or a distribution list is one of the best ways of doing so. And Microsoft Outlook makes it very easy to create and add members to your distribution list.
Begin by going to File -> New -> Distribution List in the main Outlook Menu. A quick alternative is to use the handy keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + L to open a new distribution list. You can now give an appropriate name to this distribution list. You could immediately start to add new members. Simply use the 'Add New'' button first, followed by the 'Select Members'' button. Add all the members from your contact list who you believe will be interested in receiving messages and updates about a common topic. After you finish making the selection, you can simply save your list.
Once your distribution list is ready, it is easy to send messages to all the members in this list. Compose a new email containing the message or update, which you would like to send out to all your members. You could do this in the standard way by selecting File -> New -> Mail Message from the main Outlook Menu. When you click on the 'To' button, you will be provided with a list of members in your contact list including the name of your distribution lists. Select the list you intended this mail to go out to. Now, complete your message and click on 'Send'. Your email will be sent out simultaneously to all the members in your distribution list.
By selecting email marketing add-ons, you could use the full power of Outlook by being able to personalize your emails as also use customized templates for your email messages.
Sometimes your distribution lists do get corrupted because of damage to the PST file. If you receive too many error messages or are simply unable to send mails to the selected distribution list, it is possible that the distribution list is corrupted. Instead of panicking or resigning yourself to your fate and going about creating a new distribution list, consider using sophisticated software like Advanced Outlook Repair to repair PST. This software can very easily repair PST files and recover distribution lists ' in fact, it can repair PST files that are fairly large in size ' as also recover messages sent including properties such as subject, date, to, etc.
